Description:
The Mad Housers have a novel approach to housing the homeless. Instead of warehousing people in shelters, they bring the shelters to the clients, installing hand-crafted huts in already-frequented campsites and settlements. Join Mad Houser trained volunteers in teams of 3-4 to canvas railway lines, woods, and abandoned properties for makeshift campsites. Help to document sites, interview prospective clients, and distribute flyers. ActionQuest documentation should be collected under the guidance of Mad Houser volunteers to protect the privacy of clients.
Special Instructions:
Wear long pants and sturdy shoes and bring a cell phone if you have one; bug spray, sunscreen, water and maps will be provided. Sign up at 1pm on Saturday or Sunday; recon sessions will be scheduled throughout each day based on demand
