Description:
Like many urban centers, Atlanta has been engaged in an ongoing struggle between redevelopment and displacement. As new projects are initiated, they often displace poor, underrepresented or marginalized populations, or entail the destruction of valued public space. In some cases, entire neighborhoods are erased; in others, people band together to save their communities. Your mission: Discover and report on what has been lost and what has been saved in Atlanta. What places have been eradicated by development? And what places have been saved by community intervention. Build a narrative of past, present and ongoing issues, and document role-models for effective strategies for saving communities in the future.
Special Instructions:
This quest consists of two elements. Players signed up can do either or both: 1) Find pictures of Atlanta locales as the used to be and add them into a database; 2) Send a picture of the locale as it is now with and a brief story about how it arrived at its current form.
